The Wye Valley Demolition team in action at Hackbridge, London.  We took possession of the site at 01:55am on Saturday 28th August 2010.  The timescales were very tight as the railway running underneath the bridge due for demolition would be re-opened at 5:00am on the following Tuesday.  After working day and night, Wye Valley Demolition's portion of the works were completed by lunchtime on Sunday 29th August, with the line being re-opened on schedule. Due to the sequencing of works our client was able to carry out additional works negating the need for a further rail possession. The local council/highway authority and Network Rail expectations were met and used it to publicise the opening of the new bridge.

On the Thursday 21st October 2010, several historic buildings in the centre of Hereford caught fire, with the inferno being newsworthy enough to make the national press.  Wye Valley Demolition were requested to attend an emergency meeting that day with Herefordshire Council, Herefordshire Fire Service and Herefordshire Police Authority, to discuss demolition works on buildings with compromised structural integrity as a result of the blaze.

The following morning, with the structure still smouldering, Wye Valley Demolition's 50 Tonne excavator with 27 metre high reach arm arrived on site to remove the unsafe elements of the structures.  The works, which included the 15th Century Booth Hall, the Grade II listed late 18th - early 19th century facades of the Card Factory and River Island buildings and the Phones 4U building comprising of a 1930's façade together with Grade II listed main structure dating from the 16th - 20th century all of which were of a highly sensitive nature.

Our 50 Tonne excavator was removed from site on Monday 25th October with provision made for Wye Valley Demolition to continue manual demolition.  Wye Valley Demolition were more than pleased to be afforded the opportunity to make all our plant, equipment and knowledge available to our City and its heritage when it was most needed.
